How do I pay for my lab work?

After your Naturopathic Doctor has recommended that you have lab work completed, the patient care team will email you an invoice that can be paid directly online. Lifelabs insists that Naturopathic Doctors collect on their behalf rather than having patients pay for their lab work directly at the lab. There will be no additional fees when you arrive at the Lab with your requisition.

It can take up to 5 days for us to upload your requisition into your patient portal.

We dislike this arrangement with Lifelabs, but currently this is our only option to access Lab work in Ontario. We have been part of lobbying groups and pilot projects to try and rectify this process as it creates significant headaches for our office and our staff. For now, this is the process that we have to comply with to ensure you get the best possible care with your doctor.


Here are the steps to pay your lab work invoice and receive your requisition.

  1. Find the invoice that was emailed to you. You can search Quickbooks or Clarity Health.
  2. Click on the Review and pay button
  3. Enter your credit card information to pay the invoice

The process continues as follows:

  1. We receive notification that you paid for the lab work
  2. We create the requisition and upload it to your Patient Portal
  3. We send you an email advising that the lab req is ready for you to print (2 pages) and take to Lifelabs.

Lab requisitions are non-refundable based on our arrangement with Lifelabs, challenges with fraudulent insurance submissions after refunds and our administrative costs.
